Here's a little tip for all of you with VW stock radios in "safe mode". Presumably you changed your battery, lost power, or ripped off someone else's radio and now would like to actually be able to listen to it. At any rate, I'll assume you have your little four-digit radio "code" (if you don't you'll have to take to a dealer so they can pull it out and get the serial number from the side of the radio).

1) Turn on the radio
2) You'll see the word "Safe", then the number "1000"
3) Enter the code utilizing the first four numbered keys normally used to select the CDs in the CD changer
4) Now here's the really intuitive part that no one else on the internet seems to know. After you've entered your "code", press and hold either the left or right "Seek" button for longer than seems necessary. At some point, *hopefully*, the code will take. Keep holding that button in though!

Now if you screw this up, it appears you only get two chances, you'll have to wait 24 hours before trying again.
